The route returns back until this road junction , we follow the right lineand after  70 m we enter a field of limestone pavements on a distance of  50 m and we see a special landscape;then the route continues through the forest and after 100 m we meet the road junction  (3),we follow the deviated line on the right side and after 100 m we arrive  on crest of Ciucarul Mic; the route continues on the crest on the right side  in the south –west direction and after 200 m we enter a glade, we follow the margin of the forest for 100 m, we enter a standing crop, we go 100 m, then we enter a glade, we pass it in the same south-west direction  for about 250 m, go through a forest glade 75 m and then we enter the belvedere point 2, where a lay-over place is set up.  The route ends here then the coming back is done on the same road that we came , this being the end of the route.

Natural elements and attractions:

Natural forest landscape:

On the calcareous versants from Căzănele Dunării in the Iron Gate Natural Park  there is a vegetal association called  “sibliac” made up of the downy oak (Quercus pubescens), oriental hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis), manna ash (Fraxinus ornus), wild liliac (Syringa vulgaris), sometimes with  mahaleb cherry (Prunus mahaleb) and rarely, with Montpellier Maple of Banat (Acer monspessulanum). Among the rare species we can mention Cazane Tulip (Tulipa hungarica), blue bells of Cazane (Campanula crassipes).

A characteristic of the Cazanele Mari fauna is the presence of thermopile species  like: the tortoise  (Testudo hermanni hermanni), nose-horned viper (Vipera ammodytes), the termite (Reticulitermes lucifugus) or the scorpio (Euscorpius carpaticus).

The ichthyofauna of the barrier lakediffers in a way from that of the Danube,  not only because the environment differences , but also because of the contrived introduction of some species of economic interest (crucian, carps); fish multiplied, like the catfish, zander, carp, but the starlet disappeared , which cannot forward up the Danube Valley because of the barrages.

The typical landscape is a narrow pass. Here there are a lot of  landforms and land microforms, for instance the Cazanele Mari Plateau is unique in Europeand takes your breath away. It is the place where you stay on Urgonian carbonate platforms (140 million years), on limestone pavements (natural “sculptures” in limestone), where tertiary sibliacs  (vegetal associations made up mostly of  liliac, hornbeam, manna ash, wig tree) come from interglacial warmer periods , it is the place   from which the golden colour of the Cazane  tulip tells you  that here, in Cazanele Mari of the Danubethere is the only place in the world where it lives, in fact it is the place where  “the Danube  knocked and Iron Gates opened “.

During passing this route, the tourists have to be accompanied by the rangers of Iron Gates Natural Park, as in fact on all the routes, because here you step through the natural elements of  a great value for the geology , flora and fauna of Romania , but also of Europe.
