Natural elements and attractions :
Very diverse natural landscape.
During the route there are forests of mixture in which there are species like the Turkey oak (Quercus cerris), the Hungarian oak (Quercus frainetto), the hornbeam (Carpinus betulus),oriental hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis), manna ash (Fraxinus ornus),smoke tree (Cotynus coggigria) and in the place called Cioaca Borii there is the species Banat black fir tree that grew on a cliff support.
The fauna is represented by mammals like the buck (Capreolus capreolus), the wolf (Canis lupus), the wild boar, reptileslikethe green lizard (Lacerta viridis), nose-horned viper (Viperă ammodytes), Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni boetgerri):
- Tri Kule citadel.
The Zeliște – Veligan amphitheatre, found above Sviniţa, on Valea Tiganski, is an impressive amphitheatre generatedby conglomerates of the inferior Jurassic (200 millionyears) of continental origin. Conglomeratesbelong to the formation of Cioaca Borii.
On the steps of the amphitheatre you can admire the still waters of thebarrier lake, Sviniţa (totally dislocated), the remnants of the houses with traditional architecture of Serbian influence and of the church in the old village.
From the very beginning of the ecotourist route, a watermill, by construction and mechanism, shows us that the local element is still bright. This kind of mill with draw and admission by “button” from Sviniţa (XVIIIth century) is preserved and exposed in the popular civilization Museum in Dumbravă Sibiului.
The entire village is located on Jurassic deposits, which make us think about the Mesozoic sea whose water was covering this region over 200 million years ago. Evidence are the fossil tracks of the inhabitants that lived in the waters of this sea, in which we mention ammonites, those big snails whose name comes from Amon God and the belemnites whose conches have a bullet shape. On the Murguceva Valley, you step on “the path of belemnites”, where there are kept the fossil remnants of this prehistoric animals.
The ecotourist route is covered with a lot of cabins, where the tourists can refuge from the weather changes. Those who travelled through the Banat black fir-tree forests in Domogled, a mountain that practically identifies with this tree and that makes part of the National Park Domogled-Valea Cernei, another protected area from the S-W of Romania, being in continuity with the Iron Gates Natural Park, will see the difference between the floor of the Domogled fir tree and low altitude, close to the glaze of the Danube waters, of the luciul apelor Dunării , of the Banat black fir-tree above the ruins from Tricule.
