Iron Gates Natural Park is located in the south-west of Romania, on the left bank of the Danube Valley between the towns Buziaş and Gura Văii. In its perimeter enters the southern extensions of the Banat Mountains (Locvei and Almăjului) and Mehedinţi Mountains, a part of Mehedinţi plateau plateau and the lake side that belong to the national terirory.

Djerdap National Park is located in the south-east of Europe, in the north-east of the Republic of Serbia, along the border of Romania.
The total area of the park is 63,608 ha and the protection zone around the park area is 93,968 ha.
Park stretches along the right bank of the Danube, about 100 km from Golubac at Karatas near Kladovo, acoperând a narrow strip of wooded hills, which is about 2-8 km wide altitudinal range of 50-800 meters.
The main area is the great natural phenomenon Djerdap Gorge on the Danube River, the longest and largest gorge in Europe. Djerdap Gorge consists of four small keys and three valleys arranged alternately on a length of 100 km.
